The original gilded decoration of the dome was lost as a result of damp penetration in the 1940s. It was regilded in 2010 as part of the major refurbishment. As the new president of the Royal Academy, he created the wonderful collection at Leighton House to expose himself as a gentleman, collector, artist and professional man. This chair in Lord Leightons simply furnished bedroom, reminded me of Van Gough‘s chair in the famous painting at Arles. The wallpaper behind, designed under the company of William Morris by Sir George Gilbert Scott who is better known for his design of the Albert the Morial.
