Save the date! 15 works for bass solo written by 15 composers to be performed by Matt Hare on Serge Koussevitzky’s own bass! Selected works, including my piece titled THE SNEAK, will be premiered on April 5th, 2024 in celebration of the 150th anniversary of Serge Koussevitzky's Birth at Winifred Smith Hall, Claire Trevor Schools of the Arts, University of California at Irvine. The concert will include works composed by Koussevitzky, dedicated to him, commissioned by the Koussevitzky Foundation. Matt Hare will be performing on Koussevitzky's personal instrument, on special loan for this recital. This performance will be presented as a live streaming online concert and broadcasted to multiple streaming platforms such as YouTube and Facebook. Inspired by Argentinian tangos, Quick Tango in Five combines dance rhythms, melodic contours, and harmonies often associated with them in 5/8 time. The result is a complete one-minute tango.
