In another life . . .

READ BOARD FROM BOTTOM UP (my pins begin at Harriett Quimby and an ornate spiral staircase; ignore those below “More Ideas”)- It’s Alt-History on a personal level. Had I lived a different life, in a different time or a different world, I might have known these people, worn these clothes, used these things. Scroll down below each picture to read my comments

Portaaviones aéreos (6): Aerowing
Aerowing - we used these for dark-of-the-moon insertions. They were very quiet and could skim just above the ground if needed. We could jump off, tuck and roll. You would be amazed at how many platoons could be deployed in a matter of minutes. We could even outflank the enemy by strategic partial deployments at three of their compass points.
Oops!
I had to follow the boy who took this photo; couldn't have it out that the Princess of England was working behind the lines with the French Resistance. After the negatives were developed, I took them from him, clipped Beth out of the one shot, gave him back the doctored negatives and kept the film. Thankfully, her father never knew.
My position changed a bit when Bess was crowned Queen. For one thing, it became immediately apparent that the two of us would no longer share any adventures. That throne was a shackle for her, but she knew and did her duty to the people of England. She was smiling in this photo, but not with her eyes. I'm standing just to the photographer's right. She's looking at me. That look was for me.
I didn't see this prototype. But I did have an unfortunate encounter with its seventh version. That's when I learned they had developed a light weight, bullet-proof cladding.
New York City History
The Hindenburg over New York, still a startling sight - May 6, 1937, a few hours after this was taken, the German airship caught fire and crashed at the Lakehurst New Jersey Naval Station, killing 35 of the 97 passengers/crew. I sometimes shudder, still, to think what might have been had I not parachuted from the craft earlier in the day.
The Maharaja is Coming
1926 Louis Vuitton Tea Case. (For a few years---before my service to HRH and after my soldier of fortune days---One of these traveled with me, everywhere.)
Cruising the Past: The Hindenburg. Color video of the great airship. Memories of the fastest way to “cross the pond” during the 1930s. 2 and 1/2 Days. And the most expensive way to go!
Hindenburg Interior - That's me on the far right. This was some years before I had my first adventure with Bess, so I was not yet in service to the British crown. My German was excellent, so I had no difficulty obtaining "freelance" work. I knew another war was coming, but had no clue I was about to become the Paladin of HRH Elizabeth!
