Not too long ago, my digitech and I went to Atlanta for a client. The goal was to photograph as many cancer scientists and researchers as possible. We were to capture these people as heroes in the battle. But, they did not consider themselves heroes. They were simply soldiers in the trenches, fighting against the disease that takes all too many of our loved ones and friends. The real heroes are the ones going through the daily struggle to survive. It was an eye opening experience for us. One of my fav costume designers when doing posters for The Footlight Club has left the building! Dustin Todd Rennells always brought the 🔥 when one of his shows was in the studio. His attention to detail was amazing. Now, he is off to other projects, including a tv project that should be out soon. I have had more than a couple of conversations about headshots in the time of Covid. Yes, we are still doing headshots for companies and individuals. Yes, it is a bit different. And, no, we are not taking risks. My team is vaccinated. We wear masks during shoots, especially on location. And, still get great, story telling images! Here's the ever amazing artist Domenic Esposito, in the studio.

This guy... Yes, he's the accounts guy at the company we were working at. But, boring he was not! We were doing short session headshots and we spent most of the time talking about his extreme sports experiences. Gawd, I love my job!

The second was to let the exec put on their "street" cloths and bring a prop (or grab one from the studio... I have a few laying around...) I just love meeting interesting people, with the excuse that we are there to do their portrait for marketing purposes. The conversations, the sense of humor, the insights, and especially the different perspectives that I get exposed to just make this "job" into a massive play date! For that, on this Friday, I am so grateful.

How cool is it when you have a person in front of the camera who is as in love with movies as I am? Kola was in for a corporate headshot where we do a Yin Yang session. First we do the business portrait for LinkedIn, corporate bio, etc. Then, we do the person's hobby, personality, or passions. These are often used for a secondary bio page, in house articles, publication submissions, etc. We spent most of the session talking about his home theater. I was drooling under my mask...
