New England Aster (Symphyotrichum novae-angliae 'Hella Lacy'): This New England Aster forms a robust semi-woody clump (5 feet tall, 2 feet wide) that blooms with fine-petaled lavender-blue flowers from late summer into fall. It was named after the wife of garden writer Alan Lacy. It is tolerant of wet conditions and is mildew resistant. Pinch back until 4th of July. This will produce denser and more compact plants.
