Retrofitting to ITX without modifications or “damaging” its plastic enclosure. As it would be a pity to demolish a perfect working Macintosh. So with my next adapted frame design you can always go back and make your Macintosh original again. (thats the adaption to the current concept) Anyhow pinit if you like it🍀 ….and stay tuned! 🌼
Following the previous classic-II conversion, my wish is to have an universal ITX interior frame design that fits this whole range of Macintoshes. I understand the design variables made between the first and last Macintoshes. Due to Lack on accurate CAD, only 1:1 comparison can give some clarification. Looking at this Apple Mac productseries based on these two examples shows that they have a lot in common, but do differ technically on the interior frame. Next challenge to sort this puzzle out👍

Since I cant get the 800x600 display to work, I did replace it with this 1024x768 Ipad one 9,7” display.
Since I cant get the previous 800x600 display to work, I did replace it with this 1024x768 Ipad display. As this controller has multisync, its now set at the perfect resolution.

Conversion to ITX hardware - now time for the components trialfitting 🍀-left to do are some custom fittings and corections in CAD…the display-2K-is really nice ✅ -october 2021-done! 🍀This setup has become a very practical Setup, suitable for daily use. The bigger display is really very conveniant.
Just repaired / recapped the 25+ Years Classic-II my sister used wayback, and here a pic to compare it with my converted 9,7“ color classic ……now is used on a daily basis since oct-2021….🍀

Same concept testrig-case, but the extrusion is now brought more outwards. This way the extrusion gets more functional. The inside space is now a littlebit wider. Specialy for the side-air supply for the graphics card. Ive now set this dimension(235mm) to square the case. This way all panels can be identical. So the outside dimension now is -235x235xH- mm. Height is a variable set to the needed length for the graphics card 250-350mm The profiles and side panels can be modified to that (27062023)
All fits well, and on its “feet” Time for finalization….
ATX-PSU adapter for a (lasting) uniform mount - assembly screws in the plain sheetmetal of the ATX supply just wear an tear out quickly - never understood why these manufacturerer did not add some sort of insert-thread to these quality PSU‘s. Ayhow its solved sufficiently now for this built.

As the crappy ATX sheetmetal mount was not usable, ive made and added an screwadapter/ spacer. Understood

Looking terrible. Some pads came off. After a real good wash in soap and alcohol parts where removed. Then again washed in alcohol. Also look at the crap in via‘s. Clean that extra with brush and toothpicks in the conteminated earea‘s. (Via‘s are these small holes connecting to other underlaying layers)

Test-rig and basic structure from flatpanel and (overhere) good available extrusion profile…. Exploring now new cable connect positions on top or bottom. This way its possible to choose to have easy access to the connectors or feed the cables out of sight through the bottom 🍀 its a bit the idea what I had with my Apple classic II ITX conversion🍀 next to that the outside shell or appearence can change to personal taste. So in the end this is a adurable solution! …..by designstudio Zoltar.

Zoltar ITX-rig 2023
So this gets me to 225x225x260mm (LxBxH) volume -thats about1.3 liters for this aircool ITX. It could be made a bit smaller but I feel not worth that. Now at least it has a square crossection, results in semetrical side-panels and provides sufficient airstream🍀 no hard to get sfx PSU….standard ATX is welcome here..
