The Yellow-billed Cuckoo, a difficult-to-find bird in Central PA, is a member of the Cuculidae family, which also includes roadrunners and anis. Cuckoos will sit in a tree and slowly eat hundreds of caterpillars, even hairy ones; the hairs remain in their stomachs and form pellets to be regurgitated later. They often mash them with their sturdy decurved beaks before chowing down. They are fascinating birds! —photos by Jon Kauffman Cuckoo, Birds Photos, Hairy

Wood turtles, like this one at Shaver's Creek, are terrestrial (on land) a fair amount of the time, but they’re quite adept in aquatic settings, as well. Look at that nice streamlined shell! —photo by Jerod Skebo Nice, Turtles, Wood Turtle, Shell, Aquatic
