Madeline's Big Girl Room
My vision, finally realized for Madeline's tiny row house bedroom. Tiny rooms with radiators are hard to decorate. Pushing the bed up against the wall works well to keep the floor space open for play. Tall furniture (dresser, desk/shelf) also keeps it feeling less overwhelmed.

Full/Queen Fetching Florals Quilt - Pillowfort™
She's using my grandmother's old bed, which was passed down to me. Refinished with chalk paint and gold leaf and clear and brown wax. Quilt from Target. Pillows homemade from old sweaters and mens' shirts. Princess canopy from Amazon. A tiny 8-inch space for a nightstand - and I found the perfect vintage telephone table in brass on eBay.

Freecycle! We picked up this vertical shelf for free because we needed tall storage for the small room. Finished with chalk paint, gold leaf, and polyurethane for durable finish. Drawers are perfect for toys. Opens to be a desk. Bins from Target. Boxes from Ikea. The dresser is mine from childhood. Mirror came from grandma's house. Rug is a gorgeous rag rug, hides stains so well!
I've always admired Pridon Goisashvili's work at Eastern Market in DC. Wanted her to have something local and still "kid friendly" on the walls. Pairing it with two picture rails from IKEA so we can showcase "books we (her or Daddy and I) hate reading," her aviation map M, the painting that she and her best friend and I made last year at school, her English double-decker, a mask picked up in NOLA, and some artwork from last year's birthday. Real lambswool garland from Etsy.
An old Mason jar from grandma becomes a lamp full of money - coins from our travels around the globe. Gold stickers from Amazon cascade from the corner, inspired by our favorite book from preschool - Press Here by Herve Tuellet. They'll come off easily when she's ready for a change. Added a lambswool throw to the floor here - can be moved easily and super soft when she (possibly) falls out of bed!
